I'll be the first to admit it, I'm the worst at balancing work and life. To be fair, I grew up with both of my parents owning a business and to me, working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day was normal. Work hard and hustle was ingrained into me since ever since I could walk. Even though there's nothing wrong with wanting to work hard, but like everything in life you need balance.
Having a good work-life balance is a new territory for me. When I first started my current job I had a bad habit of check my emails and doing tasks for work even after hours. Now that I'm balancing getting back into blogging again on the side, and other side projects on top of my job, I'm finding it even more difficult to balance it all. It's kind of a tug of war type of issue. I love being busy, but I also need to find a better balance for it all not be glued to my laptop/phone 24/7.

With that being said I wanted to share some things I've been trying to incorporate to have a better work-life balance. If you're struggling as well, take this as a learning experience we'll be going through together.
Exercise - Even with the busiest of schedules I have always tried my best to make exercising a priority. Something as simple as a one-hour workout class or run on the treadmill always helps me recharge and get in the right mindset. I've been particularly a fan of workout classes as of late because it forces me to unplug my phone for an hour and solely focus on bettering myself. Exercise is a great way to clear your head and take time away for yourself.
Unplug When I'm with Company - Working in social media through my full-time job, side projects and on my blog, it can be a little difficult for me to unplug. I have though, made it a conscious effort to put away my phone when I am having a meal with someone or out with a friend. I also try to stay off of my phone when I'm riding in a car with my boyfriend or a friend to stay engaged in the conversation (which, I do have to admit that I've been slacking lately... #realtalk). These little breaks are not only good for my eyes but are a great way for me to make sure I am fully in the moment enjoying the company.
Prioritize - I feel like this may be an obvious one, but take it as a little reminder. We all know I'm a big to-do list gal. There's just something so satisfy about crossing something off as soon as you're done. Nothing is worse than having a task that you keep pushing off constantly be on your mind, even when you clock out. Figure out when you are the most productive and grind out what you need to do in that time frame so you get it out of the way.

How do you balance your work life and your personal life? I'd LOVE to hear down below since obviously, I'm still struggling with this task. I'll be sure to check in a few months from now to see if I'm able to share some improvement. With that being said, are you in the same boat as me and struggle to unplug or do you have it all figured it?
I hope you all enjoyed this post and as always, thank you for reading!
xoxo,
Amy
