Fall may *officially* start on Monday, but it doesn't seem like the temperatures are dropping anytime soon. Today I'm sharing a piece that you can easily throw on to soak up the rest of the warm summer weather as well as transition into the fall when it (finally) decides to cool down.

Fall is almost here! Retailers are putting out their coziest sweaters, pumpkin spice can be found in almost everything and football is in full swing... now if only the weather can get with the memo.
I'm not going to lie, I was never a huge fall gal. If you've been following me for a while now then you know that I try to hang on to every ounce of summer while I can. I guess somewhere between living in Flordia for a hot minute and being back in the mountains to see the leaves change for the first time since high school I started to like fall. Shocker, I know.
Don't get me wrong, warm sunny days will always be my favorite, but I think ya girl has had enough with sweating my booty off every time I'm outside for longer than 15 minutes. With that being said, starting to shop/dress for this weird transition period has always been tricky for me. My heart screams warm fall tones and cozy sweaters but the weather says otherwise.
I had originally purchased this dress last month to wear to my trip to Charleston on Labor Day weekend but unfortunately didn't get to explore the city in it like I had envisioned due to the weather. I love how the silhouette of the dress gives me fun and easy summer vibes, but I can always easily throw on a few layers to extend the use out of it when it eventually cools down. Denim jackets and my white converse have been my go-to pieces as of late, but I think this dress could also be cute paired with a cozy oversized cardigan and some booties for more of a fall look.
Here are my top tips on transiting your favorite summer pieces into the fall:
- Layer, layer, layer: This is probably the easiest way to bring a piece into the fall. Got a cute summer dress? Throw a denim jacket on it. Favorite tank? Throw a cardigan on. The weather is getting cooler and it only makes sense to add some extra layers for warmth and looks.
- Stick with warm tones: when you think of fall you typically think of rich jewel tones and warmer colors. Try to incorporate some of those colors when thinking of items to layer to bring them into fall.
- Get creative: Got a cute little slip dress? Throw on a skirt and a cardigan for a whole new look. Got a button-down maxi dress? Unbutton it and use it as a duster or extra layering piece. Don't limit yourself to what the piece was originally intended to be used for.
How would you style this dress? Let me know in the comments down below! I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend and as always, thank you for reading!
