Who says goals have to start on January 1st? Today I'm sharing my new word for the year and why I'm not waiting until 2018 to start achieving my goals.

Happy Monday friends!
Can you believe that we have less than 2 months left of 2017?? It's this time of year that many of us start to reflect on the past year and look at what all we've accomplished, done, and what we can improve. I think many of us get in this mindset that we have to start our goals on New Year's day. I mean, it makes sense. New year, new me. Fresh start. A new year. Etc. etc. etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on new year's resolutions at all, heck I'm one of those who did and probably still make New Year's resolutions every year. I'm also realizing that you don't need a set date to start achieving your goals.

Something that became really popular in the last year or so was having a "word of the year" aka a word that you want to go by for the whole year. Many of these words are "strong," "spontaneous," "happy," etc. etc. etc. I really liked the idea of having a word of the year, but could never really think of one that I wanted to stick to for the whole year at the start of 2017 so I kind of brushed it off.
So one day I was in the shower (because all bright ideas come in the shower, right?), and the word "Today" popped in my head. Then it all came together, that's it! That's my word.
Why today?
Because when's a better time than the present? Myself and I'm sure like many others, always wait for a certain date or milestone to do something whether it be answering an email, applying for a job, starting a new workout routine, etc. But why not today?
We're not getting younger and the time is now, am I right? This even goes for tackling my todo list. I'm so bad at looking at it and pushing things off till tomorrow, or the next day even though I can easily knock it out within an hour today. Same goes for working out and eating healthy. I'm so guilty of saying I'll start making changes to my lifestyle tomorrow and tomorrow turns into 2 months. Image the progress that could have been made if you would have started that day!
It's funny that I thought of the word "today" as my word of the year and I wanted to wait until the start of 2018 to use it. HA! So, with that, my word of the year starts today. A whole year doesn't have to start right on Jan 1st, right?
So here's to tackling new goals, trying new things and accomplishing things TODAY.
Did you all have a word of the year that you followed this year? If so, what was it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below and I hope you all have a wonderful day!
xoxo,
Amy
