I can't help to listen to Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" the entire time while I was writing this post... I mean, the man did make some great points! So crank up some Macklemore and let's find out why you should be going to your local secondhand shop!

Happy Monday friends!

If you read my Thrift Store Shopping Tips blog post then you know that I have grown to have a love for thrifting. I just love going in and trying to find unexpected hidden treasures also not to mention it's great on a post-college grad budget! Today I'm sharing my top four reasons why you should give thrifting a try!

1. Eco-Friendly
Let's face it, as much as we all love to buy a new dress every season or the must-have pair of shoes, it's not the best thing for the environment. You know that saying "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle?" That's exactly what you're doing when you're going thrifting! By picking up a new clothing piece or decor piece from the thrift store you're recirculating it and preventing it from adding to the landfill.

Want to be even more eco-friendly? Donate or sell gently used clothing pieces to your local thrift store! I mean, one man's trash is another man's treasure am I right? My favorite place to resell my clothing pieces has been Uptown Cheapskate. The process is super easy, all you need is your bag of gently used clothes, your ID and that's it! With my recent move, I've been able to make some extra cash on the side and get rid of some unwanted items that I didn't need to pack up with me.

2. It Saves Money
Ok, who doesn't love saving money? Let's face it, a designer brand with a $10 price tag is more appealing than a $100 one. It's no secret that thrifting is a great way to save money and score some awesome deals on gently used clothing, but just make sure you go in with good judgment and make sure you're not overpaying for a clothing piece.

You all know that I love Lilly Pulitzer, but I don't love Lilly Pulitzer prices. I've shared some of my Lilly thrifted finds with you all on my blog and it still blows my mind how I've been able to build my collection of Lilly pieces without breaking the bank. I have a secret to share with you all... I've yet to purchase a Lilly item full price!

3. Unique Clothing Pieces
How many times have you gone to a party or scroll through Instagram and realized someone has the same exact outfit on as you? #Awkward. As much as I love big chain clothing stores such as Nordstrom and H&M, it's sometimes hard buying something knowing someone else has the exact same item too. Since most of the clothing pieces in thrift stores are a few seasons old (or even a decade, who knows!) you can pretty much almost guarantee no one will have the same thing as you. Who knows, you might also come across a super rare find as well!

4. Blast from the past
I think one of the coolest things about picking up pre-loved items is thinking about who had them last. How did they style it? What were they like? Why did they decide to part with it? It's always cool to go into some stores and find pieces from different time periods and get a little "blast from the past.' They're also super useful to find pieces for themed parties or old revived trends (like 90's grunge!).

Those are some of the reasons why I think you should go thrifting! Have you ever gone thrifting? If so, what're some of your favorite finds? I'd love to know! I hope you all have a wonderful day and as always, thank you for reading!
xoxo,
Amy
