Happy Wednesday friends!

Raise your hand if you love shopping! *fifty raising hand emojis*

I love shopping or even just browsing around a store looking all the different styles and trends that are currently out. To help make your shopping experience a little bit better I am here to share some of my top shopping hacks! I also want to add that I've added some additional tips on how to shop the upcoming #NSALE this year and what exactly it's all about at the bottom of this post. I know many of you who follow other bloggers may have already felt a little overwhelmed about this whole #NSALE, but I did wanted to share a little about it for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about. If you are over the #NSALE talk and want to skip over it, feel free to at the end of today' post.

Now, let's jump right into it, shall we?

1. Check your closet first
How many times have you gone shopping and come back with a clothing piece that's super similar to the one you already have in your closet? This happens to me ALL THE TIME. To help prevent purchasing dupes, check your closet beforehand and see what you already have. While you're at it, you can also go through your closet and donate pieces you don't wear anymore. A good rule of thumb is to remove one piece of clothing for every new piece you bring in so your closet isn't too cluttered.

2. Make a list / keep a running list
Now that you know what exactly is in your closet, time to make a list of what you need. This is pretty much like your grocery list, but for clothes. I can't tell you how many times I've gone out shopping needing a white button down and to come back from the mall with everything but a white button down. This is also a great way to make sure you don't make impulse purchases.

Another idea is to keep a running list posted in your closet. Whenever I get dressed and realized continually I don't have a certain item, like a pair of nude sandals, I write it down on my list for the next time I go shopping! That way you know you'll get a lot of use out of the item before purchasing it.

For big sales like the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, it's good to go into with what exactly you have in mind to purchase. A sale this big can be pretty overwhelming and having a good general idea of what you're looking for can make the process seem a little less hectic.

3. Bring only a set amount of money
Now that you have your list in hand, to help ensure you don't go too crazy on your shopping adventure, set aside a set amount of money to take with you and leave the rest at home. This way you are able to stay on budget and will help you decide if you reealllyy want an item or not.

I have had problems in the past spending wayyy more money that I anticipated because I got wrapped up in all of the "sale" and "clearence" signs. Having a set amount of money (perferrably cash!) is a great way to proritize on exactly what you want to buy and limit impulse purchases.

4. Have a mirror nearby
This can be super helpful for those gals who love to shop from the comfort of their own home. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time envisioning what a certain clothing piece will look like on me when I purchase it online. I like to have a mirror nearby (sounds strange, I know) and reference the clothing item online to better envision what it will look like on me. Sounds weird, but may be worth a try!

5. Shop off season
Save some bucks on staple wardrobe pieces by purchasing them during the opposite season. For example, if you're in need of a new winter coat, check them out on clearence at the beginning of summer and vice versa for cute bathing suits. This way you can save some money on clothing pieces and have new items to wear for when that season rolls around again!

6. Use cash back services
If you are already spending money anyways, why not get some cash back while you're at it. Some credit card companies, like Discover, offer a small percentage of cash back when you shop at certain places. I like to use sites like Ebates to get some cash back from retailers and some can be up to 10% cash back on some days!

7. Keep your receipts + keep your tags on your clothes till you wear them
Now that you are done shopping, make sure you keep your receipts in a nice place. The worse thing is having to return an item and not being able to find where you put the receipt. I like to keep all of my receipts in a bin in my closet so I know they are all in one place.

I also advise keeping the tags on your clothes until you wear them. This way you can still return them if you decide a week later the item is not for you instead of them just sitting in your closet never to be worn.

8. Wear comfy clothes
Nothing's worse than going into multiple dressing rooms and having to take on and off a complicated outfit. I like to wear dresses or even workout clothes when I go shopping to make it easier to change in and out of items when I'm out shopping.

*Bonus boy hack:
Bring a fully charged cell phone when your girlfriend goes into Forever 21
RJ told me I had to add this in for any of my male readers. As much as he tries to love going shopping with me (he really is such a trooper), he always tends to make a beeline to the closest bench and play on his phone while I wonder around the store.

And those are all of my shopping tips! What are some of your shopping tips? Let me know in the comments down below!

*#NSALE INFO*

I'm sure many of you already know by now, but early access for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale starts tomorrow (July 13)! If you follow other fashion bloggers you may already know the low down on this sale, but if not basically it's a sale where new fall merchandise is marked down BEFORE hitting the racks! So basically the exact opposite of any other sale. In the past, I've managed to score some classic fall and winter staples. I'll try not to overwhelm you all too much with the sale as I'm sure you all will hear plenty on it. Unfortunately, I do not have a Nordstrom card so I won't be shopping the sale early this year, but it does open to the public on July 21st if you want to wait with me! If you cannot wait for then, you can sign up for a Nordstrom card and start shopping away tomorrow!

I hope that was a brief enough run down of the whole thing. If you have any questions let me know! I'll try to keep the #NSALE posts at a minimum so you all won't get too overwhelmed. If you have no interest in shopping the Nordstrom sale, don't worry! I have tons of fun content coming up in the following week as well! I hope you all have a great day and as always thank you for reading!

xoxo,
Amy
