Happy Monday friends!
I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend! My weekend flew by as usual and cannot believe we're starting a new month! So crazy!
Today's outfit post is a little bit of a different one. The other day I was going through my closet looking for something to wear and I came across this colorful floral skirt. I had forgotten I even owned this skirt and I'm pretty sure I picked it up around freshman or sophomore year of high school. I re-fell in love with the colors of this skirt and it came in the perfect time to say goodbye to the warm summer weather!
I have mentioned it multiple times on the blog that as much as I would love to continually add new pieces into my closet but, sometimes my wallet just won't allow it. As some of you may know I've been trying to save up some money for post grad expenses and that means cutting down on my shopping habits. In inspiration of finding this colorful skirt in my closet I thought it would be helpful to share with you all some of my tips on how to still look cute while on a budget! Let's begin, shall we?
Shop your closet
This may sound silly, but you may be surprised with what you might find in your closet! I try to clean out my closet every once and a while and sometimes I find old pieces that had gotten lost in my closet and re-fall in love with them all over again (like this skirt!). Sometimes I even find pieces in my closet that still have tags on it that have been in my closet for months... whoops.
Go thrift shopping
This may be a little bit of a no brainer, but go thrift shopping! *Insert Malcamore song here* Thrift shopping is just like a treasure hunt and you never know what goodies and deals you can find there. I've only gone thrift shopping a handful of times for clothes, but the pieces I did end up picking up were all less than $5!
If going to the thrift store isn't your speed, then try Poshmark or ThreadUp! Those are more online type "thrift stores" that always have some great pieces at amazing prices!
Also, side note, Good Will is an awesome place to pick up some super cheap home decor!! Lots of my apartment decor is actually from Good Will!
Have a clothing swap
I personally haven't had a clothing swap with friends / family members before, but I have had a ton of hand me downs given to me when I was in high school. Hey, one (wo)man's trash is another wo(man)'s treasure, right? How fun would it be to have a little party or get together with your friends and dump out all of your clothes in a pile and just have fun picking pieces each of you want and even start styling outfits??
And that's it! What are some of your tips on dressing on trend on a budget? I would love to know! I hope you all have a wonderful week and as always, thank you for reading!
